Welcome to HHP 402 - Public Administration and Development in Africa! I am Dr. Kanyingi Benson, your lecturer for this course. Throughout this course, we will delve into foundational theories and concepts in public administration, examining historical perspectives and evolution in the first two weeks. Subsequently, we will analyze the profound impact of public administration on development, supported by case studies illustrating successful instances.
As we move forward, we will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities in African development, exploring the historical context and lessons learned. The latter part of the course will guide you through the methodologies involved in formulating, implementing, and evaluating national development programs, utilizing both successful and unsuccessful examples for a comprehensive understanding.
Your assessment will be a combination of continuous assignment tests/assignments (30%) and final examinations (70%). I encourage active participation through lectures and group discussions, as this will enhance your grasp of the subject matter.
