Welcome to this course, SIT O66 DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Purpose of the course 

The main aim of the course unit is to enable students to describe the DBMS/database environment and demonstrate an understanding of the Relational Data Model.  Demonstrate an understanding of good data design, appreciate the roles of the database administrator and apply database design skills to Normalize data

The material in this module is organized into lessons, each with specific learning outcomes you should achieve. The learning outcomes have E-activities directing you to source materials online via the provided links and to interact with other learners through the University of Embu E-Learning Platform.

The short notes and linked materials in this module are at best summary of topics in each lesson. You are further encouraged to search for additional online and offline learning material and experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with interacting with existing knowledge, questioning it, applying it, repackaging it and ultimately discovering new knowledge.

This is a blended course where some activities will be in class (Face-to-face) while others will be online (E-activities). Many learning activities are collaborative (to be done in groups). You will get comments from your fellow learners as well as from your Unit Facilitator.
