Chemical composition and physical properties of fresh and marine waters and their ecological significance. Waters in motion in lakes, rivers, and oceans: currents, waves and tides. Primary production in fresh and marine waters and its determinants; latitudinal patterns of production. Major fresh and brackish water and marine habitats and their communities and adaptations of animals to different aquatic environments.
