DCH 103: Principles of Community Health:
This 45 hour course aims to equip learners with fundamental knowledge and positive attitudes regarding community health and development by covering concepts like health, wellness, illness, community health theories, community development approaches, healthcare systems and services in Kenya, and ethical/legal issues; using teaching methods including lectures, tutorials, discussions, self-directed learning, and assignments; assessing students through a 30% Continuous Assessment Test and 70% End of Semester Exam; utilizing core textbooks on fundamentals of nursing, health promotion, community health workers, community health nursing, and best practices in community mental health; and referencing supplementary resources like journals focused on community development, foundations, and health nursing that provide additional perspectives related to the field of community and public health.
