The main aim of this Course is to introduce you to the concept and rationale for educational planning and gain insight into the major challenges that educational planners face in developing countries.

Meaning, nature and scope of educational planning; History of educational planning; Principles of educational planning; Process of educational planning; Approaches to educational planning; Use of demographic data in educational planning; Macro-planning: Planning at the School Level; Constraints to educational planning; Resource management in educational planning; Decision-making in educational planning; Policy and legal issues for educational planners; Monitoring and evaluation in educational planning

Course Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this Course, you should be able to:
1. Explain meaning of educational planning and its development in theory and practice
2. Justify the rationale for educational planning
3. Analyze different approaches to educational planning
4. Conduct simulation analysis using demographic data from different countries
5. Compute indicators of efficiency in educational systems
6. Examine current policies, issues and challenges of educational planning

E-Tivities:
Each week, you will be participating in different online activities either in groups or individually. These e-tivities will be accessed through the UoEm E-learning platform.

Assessment:
• You will undertake two Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs)
• Towards the end of the semester, you will sit an individual written End of Semester examination to assess learning your overall achievement of the Course Intended Learning Outcomes.
• Your individual attendance and participation in the Course will be assessed by the Course Facilitator/Lecturer.
